The Roatan Dive & Yacht Club marina is located in a protected little lagoon
housed in Old French Harbour. Although the entry looks
difficult, it is easier than it appears. |
To enter the lagoon, position yourself at 16°20.82N /
86°26.98W. Head 00° for about 480 yards, then veer
northwest towards the Old French Harbour lagoon. The reef
extends northwest from Big French Cay, and there's another
separate reef southwest of that reef. Favor the West shore
of the entry, not too far from the black buoy, leaving it
to port. You'll also see at least three stakes positioned
further into the channel. The two easternmost stakes are to
be passed to starboard, and the one closest to the western
shore is to be left to port. Continue heading for the rocky
shore on the peninsula North of the harbor until you see a
narrow opening to port. Then veer west closely rounding the
sandy point on the south side of the channel.
Depths are 30 to 40 feet in the approach, 9 feet in the entry,
then about 12 feet all over old French Harbour except in the
western bight, where there is only 4 feet of depth. If you
have any problems getting in, we are always monitoring VHF
16. The marina is equipped with 12 slips. After you leave
the docks, a small trail connects the marina to Resort.
